I’m a San Franciscan by way of LA and, originally, New York City. By nature I’m a “city mouse”, so most of my work has a very urban feel - with a little mix of LA paparazzi added in.
My focus is on the happier side of the human condition. I photograph people who aren’t afraid to be themselves, who really own their place in my image. I look to capture their “inner smile”.
And yes, I’m that guy who photographs “gingers”. What can I say, I like “gingers”.
“The visual effect of David’s images emanates from his drive for precision and technique. The emotional impact is triggered by his eye for the humanity in all of us, no matter our race, gender preference, age or hair color.”
— Nancy S.
“I do not like having my photo taken because the result is unattractive and not what I feel I really look like. However, when David took my photo, I got many, many compliments on it. I’m very happy with the guy I now see staring back at me.”
— Richard M.
“David has incredible eye and is a natural behind the camera. He is also responsive to requests and involved with his community. It’s always a pleasure to work with him.”
— James N.
“David had a natural eye when he took pictures of us getting married. We were thrilled with the results.”
— Liz A.
“David really captured our joy when we got married.”
— Alex J.
“David has photographed the Endeavor Foundation for the Art’s annual Spring Gala's award ceremony the last two years.
His photographs have captured the essence of the evening, one of love and celebration for the recipients. During the events he consistently checked in with the board of directors to inquire about the photos they wanted taken and to suggest possible photo opportunities as well.
David is an easy person to work with and we, The Endeavor Foundation for the Arts, looks forward to continue to work with him during other events throughout the year.”
— Rodney Taylor, Secretary, Endeavor Foundation for the Arts
“David was very professional as a photographer for our annual tennis event. He gave us exactly what we wanted.”
— George H.
“David guided me through everything. Never thought I’d look so good in pictures!”
— Bill H.
“David Sweet has managed to infiltrate in the Gay community of San Francisco, providing via photographs an insightful, endearing and documentary view of the current and historic events of the every day life of the LGBT community.
Also, by being a tennis lover has been able to cover tennis events and portray players and tennis stars in very candid moments not very often seeing by others.
There is more in store for David, but so far this is a great start!”
— Ruben Natal-San Miguel, NYC Photographer/Curator/Collector and Photography Connoisseur
